Randall Responds

I thought it might be fun to change things up a bit today so I'm creating a new feature called "Randall Responds." I know, stupid name but it works. What I am thinking is for people to ask me questions in the comments of this post and in a few days I will collect them and answer. Feel free to ask about anything at all.

My shoe size is 10 1/2. Has been for a long time but I only wear shoes when I have to.

I've always been a bit of a photographer and actually even got paid for it for a year or so. And so I'm fascinated with the skill of the photographer more than the actual photographs. I had a sports illustrated with the best photos of sports in it and I still remember many of those pictures. There was a formula-1 car that was flipping over and it was caught horizontally upside down with the driver looking out. There was my favorite of Michael Johnson winning in the Olympics (I think) and his arms are raised but the picture is from the back and all you see is a small him and an entire wall of camera lenses. I love pictures like that that tell a story.

Do you have any snake stories?

I have two. First while I was in Bali a couple years ago I was riding a motorcycle behind my roomate's bike along a dirt road to a remote beach. While we were riding along I saw a green pit viper on the road and it struck at my roomate as we passed. It missed and he didn't even see it.

The second is a news report from last year about a 49 foot python being captured about 2 hours from where I live. The reports say it weighs close to 1000 pounds. When an AP reporter went there to verify the incident, the snake was about half the size, which is still pretty big. When he asked the local zoo keepers about the obvious discrepency, they said, "We have no idea how it shrunk."

I've slept in quite a few weird places. One was in the back of a truck while on a trip to florida a few years ago. I've also slept on a dock in the Malacca Straits with the skyline of Singapore visible all night.

Since I use Firefox, it is still in the search bar at the top of the browser! The last thing I searched for was "chickfillet advertisement." Our middle school retreat theme is "got faith? get real" and so the shirts are designed with the "got milk" design. The student designing the shirts wanted to have one of the chickfillet cows so I looked it up for her.

  • I used to work at Chick-fil-A when I was in highschool.
shrinking snakes cracked me up, and sleeping on a dock is definitely cool! I have goal to accumulate cool places I've slept, but I only have three so far :(

  • Where do we request one of the free cows?
